Semper Fi project

The Ooms inland vessel Carpe Diem was used as the model for the “Semper Fi” project. The propulsion data for a period of five years was analysed and a sailing profile prepared.

The “Semper Fi” project, led by Wilco Ooms and Peter van der Zanden in partnership with the Stichting Projecten Binnenvaart (Inland Shipping Projects Foundation), was submitted in 2008, in compliance with the criteria of the EOS Demo scheme. The “Semper Fi” project was approved for this scheme. There were five priorities, with a single end goal: a unique, fuel-saving (CO2), sustainable and safe inland vessel.
